About
the People of
Binney, Chase & Van Horne |
| Arnold
Binney was born in and grew up in Los Angeles when
there was no smog and less freeways. He studied Law
and Insurance at Claremont McKenna College and
graduated in 1951 with a BA degree. |

Arnold Binney
|
| Arnold
attended Stanford Law School in 1951 to 1952. He
completed his military service in the U.S. Air Force
between 1952 and 1954.
Arnold
joined his father's insurance agency in 1956, took it
over later. In 1964 Arnold married Judy
Hornback, and moved to Pasadena the same year. Arnold
remembers that "there were only two good
restaurants in Pasadena those days."
Arnold and Judy have three
children and two grandchildren. His hobbies are
playing bridge, the stock market and painting.
(several of Arnold's works are on display in the
office).
"While I have my hobbies
and an active social life, my main interest is keeping
our customers properly insured. It brings me great
satisfaction knowing that my work is providing value
to businesses and security for families." |
|

Bruce Newsom
|
Bruce Newsom is a
native of Pasadena, attended attended Pasadena City
College, and then on to Cal. State University. While
growing up Bruce didn't plan to enter the family
business.
|
| However,
shortly after college, his father asked if he wanted
to give this business a try. "Soon I became
hooked on the daily challenges posed by an-ever
changing work environment and differing client
needs." Bruce took over the agency from his
father in 1990.
Married 1986, Bruce and his wife
Kim have two sons, Dylan & Chad. Bruce enjoys
skiing and playing baseball. He gets great
satisfaction working with with youth, over the last
ten years; coaching little league baseball, AYSO
soccer and leading his local Christian youth club.
In 1992, Arnold and Bruce merged
their two corporations, LeCount & Newsom and
Binney, Chase & Van Horne. (Bruce's father
purchased his agency from Louis LeCount in 1952, who
started the agency about 1940.)
"I enjoy the
insurance business. It gives me an opportunity to help
meet needs and to solve problems that people bring to
our agency seeking our assistance. I like to think of
our agency as an extension of our clients' own staff,
serving as their risk management department." |
