Bruce Newsom, AAI; President
Bruce is a native of the Pasadena area and attended Pasadena and South Pasadena Schools. He attended Pasadena City College, Rio Hondo College, and California State University at Los Angeles. With an emphasis of study on business and pre-law, Bruce pursued a career in law enforcement. He was injured within months of becoming a sworn Peace Officer for a local city and immediately transitioned into the family insurance business in 1984. Bruce became Vice President of BCV in 1992 and became President of the firm at the close of 2004.

Strong technical knowledge in the industry is Bruce´s passion, and over his 25 years of hands on experience, he has become a renowned expert in commercial insurance exposures and construction risk management. In addition to accumulating hundreds of hours of continuing education study, Bruce has also earned and holds the Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) professional designation, an eighteen month course of study of insurance principles and agency management.

Early in his career Bruce began his work with non-profit developers of affordable housing and established himself as a leader in insurance and risk management for these organizations. He has put his extensive knowledge of contracts to work for his non-profit clients in an effort to provide significant value in risk management and risk transfer. Today, Bruce heads a team of licensed and experienced professionals seeking to provide a level of service and technical knowledge which is uncommon in today´s market place. He also lectures on the topics of insurance and construction risk, most recently as a volunteer for the Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing (SCANPH).

Bruce is also an accomplished craftsman and is often working on his own construction projects, or as a volunteer for others. He is an active leader in a community church, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. Bruce has also volunteered to work with local youth, including managing youth sports programs.

Robyn Grandy, AAI; Vice President
Robyn serves as Vice President and Commercial Lines Manager for BCV. She is a licensed insurance property and casualty agent in the State of California. Robyn maintains strong relationships with BCV´s insurance carrier partners, including our primary non-profit markets. She has engineered master policy programs and overall risk analysis in our affordable housing division, and also works closely with pre-development, construction, and operational projects. Her expertise is evident in both the development and property management arenas, and she has also worked on many home-ownership projects. Robyn actively consults with BCV clients regarding resident services and outreach offered at the properties and extending into local communities.

Robyn´s initial experience in the industry came at a young age while assisting her parents in the family insurance agency in Washington State. After relocating to California in 1999, Robyn attained a Bachelor of Music degree at California State University, Los Angeles. She also holds a Juris Doctor degree from Concord Law School.

Robyn joined BCV in 2003, and was later promoted to become a partner in the firm in 2007. She holds the professional designation of Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI). Her growing expertise in construction risk management and the asset management arena serves as a strong foundation as account executive for many BCV affordable housing division clientele. Robyn provides day to day account service, risk management analysis, site visits, and constant relationship maintenance between our clients, their investors, lenders and insurance carriers.

Other interests include classical singing, painting, spending time outdoors with her dogs, and working with volunteer organizations. Robyn has served on a national board for the Camp Fire Boys & Girls (Camp Fire USA) youth organization and was President of her condominium association for several years. She manages the BCV Orange County office and serves on the Board of Directors for the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce. She is passionate about promoting small business and improving the quality of life in her community.
